 A Lily is James Vella, better known as the songwriter and guitar player for Kent-based indie-rock band yndi halda. As A Lily, though, James makes music with a computer and as many instruments as he can find - the making of debut full-length wake:sleep included electric and acoustic guitars, accordion, piano, drums, glockenspiel, bass, lapsteel, zheng, vocals and a light switch. A Lily was born wide-eyed admiration for starry skies, empty beaches, towering trees and campfires.The summer of 2006 saw the debut full-length from A Lily, released on San Francisco's Dynamophone Records. James will release a new EP, entitled I Dress My Ankles with God's Sweetest Words in August 2008.
